More biological and even greener!

The official press release.

The Kreussler company presents the updated solvent of dry cleaning SOLVONK4 on a natural basis - the next stage in the development of absolutely safe means for dry cleaning.

The solvent for dry cleaning SYSTEMK4 is now produced on the basis of biotechnology.
The updated SYSTEMK4 system is partially made from corn and at the same time has no less fantastic cleaning properties than the original formula. All the corn processed at the plant is supplied by more than 150 family farms from the state of Minnesota (USA).

TAMPA, FLORIDA – June 5, 2017 – PRLog – More than 25 years ago, Kreussler introduced aqua cleaning technology, the most environmentally friendly method in the dry cleaning industry. The German chemical manufacturer demonstrated its concern for the environment by developing SYSTEMK4, an advanced environmentally friendly technology in the dry cleaning industry, and showed its willingness to invest in sustainable business practices. Now Kreussler is pleased to present a new result of the development of eco—friendly dry cleaning - solvent SOLVON K4 on a natural "biological" basis.

The Clean Show 2017 in Las Vegas saw the debut of a new solvent, SOLVONK4, which is partially made from corn.

"The SYSTEMK4 system has been recognized as the most revolutionary development in the field of dry cleaning technologies over the past 50 years. SYSTEMK4 has been adopted, approved and used by more than 1,000 dry cleaning companies in 20 countries on 6 continents," said Richard Fitzpatrick, Vice President of Kreussler Inc (USA). - It took two years to develop a new formula for the natural solvent SOLVON K4, partially produced from corn. This tool is just as effective and safe, but it also offers a creative marketing approach and enhanced opportunities for environmental labeling and certification."

According to Fitzpatrick, he is most often asked, "how does the new formula differ from the original SOLVONK4?" The most interesting thing, he says, is that nothing. Chemically, the new version of the SOLVON K4 is identical to the original; the only difference is the source of the hydrocarbon. In this case, Kreussler replaced the previous source (crude oil) with a corn processing product.

According to Fitzpatrick, since SYSTEMK4 entered the market in 2011, Kreussler's developers knew that the solvent could be produced from natural ingredients, but the company needed market recognition and "critical mass" to move towards even greener products.
In 2016, the number of customers surpassed the thousandth mark, and the percentage of solvent use in dry cleaning has now reached the level necessary to move to the next stage.

At that time, Kreussler Inc. was contacted by a chemist from a city where a local dry cleaner had recently installed a SYSTEMK4 system. After learning more about this system, he realized that it could use natural biological raw materials similar to those produced by his employer, Green Biologics, a British company that at that time, coincidentally, had retrofitted an ethanol plant in Minnesota. All the corn processed at the plant comes from more than 150 local family farms. According to Fitzpatrick, the new plant will give Kreussler access to the raw materials it needs in volume, with a degree of purity and at a price that meets its requirements.

Dry cleaning companies are aware of the negative opinion of consumers about the industry, including problems of soil, water and air pollution, expensive cleaning, as well as risks to human health associated with the solvents used. The SYSTEMK4 system is already a non-toxic, biodegradable, halogen-free solution that eliminates the risks of soil, water or air pollution. The new natural-based formula has become the first and only solvent partially produced from renewable plant-based resources.

""We hope that our innovative version of the SOLVON K4 will receive the "USDA Bio-preferred" label for the first time in the history of the industry," says Fitzpatrick.

Kreussler expects that the new natural solvent will be available on the American market by the end of 2017.

Kreussler's main mission is to develop and use production methods that have minimal impact on the environment without compromising quality or efficiency. Therefore, the company, headquartered in Wiesbaden, Germany, invests in sustainable technologies such as geothermal, solar and wind energy, and currently ensures 100% purification of its wastewater (including stormwater) and its reuse.
